20240226: New year, new version for this website! I am currently working on integrating very useful resources, including open neuroscience datasets and analytical tools. Stay tuned!
20240214: Our preprint is now under review in Nature Neuroscience, and the underlying analysis software PyCaAn is now open source!
20231111: Our latest preprint is now available! It is packed with new methods to extract information metrics from calcium imaging data, extracting and aligning manifolds across animals, and modelling data. In short, we show that CA1 always expresses some form of temporal codes (in addition to encoding space). We propose that these idiothetic (time and distance) codes originate from the integration of grid cell inputs, and are transmitted to downstream regions including the lateral septum.
20231015: I will be attending the annual SfN meeting in Washington, DC. We will present our latest preprint (to be published very soon!)
20230523: I will be attending the annual CAN-ACN meeting in Montreal next week. Come discuss optogenetics, calcium imaging, and how spatiotemporal representations can be dissociated from memory functions!
20230125: Our paper 'Optogenetic frequency scrambling of hippocampal theta oscillations dissociates working memory retrieval from hippocampal spatiotemporal codes' has been accepted in Nature Communications!
20221128: I'll join our ABL-Lab team at the Montreal Artificial Intelligence and Neurosience (MAIN) meeting the second week of December. Come check out our latest projects!
20220509: I will be in Edmonton for the AI week organized by the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) on May 24-28th. Feel free to reach out if you want to meet up and discuss AI projects!
20220428: We will be presenting our cortical model at annual Canadian CAN-ACN conference on May 15th! Join us to discuss these cortical models and everything neuroscience (and Canadian)!
20220201: Very happy to have been selected to present COSYNE 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal. We will present our model developed at the ABL lab, that solves ambiguity using insights from neocortical physiology.
20220103: Excited to present our work on Alzheimer's disease (Etter et al., 2019; Nature Comms) at NiPS in Okazaki, Aichi, Japan. This will be part of a NiPS/McGill symposium. Click here for program and registration!
20212124: The preprint 'Optogenetic scrambling of hippocampal theta oscillations alters working memory retrieval but not hippocampal spatiotemporal codes' is now out! It compiles some work done back in the Williams lab a few years ago.
20211129: Our work from the ABL-Lab will be showcased at the yearly Montreal Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience conference!
20211120: Our work from the ABL-Lab has been submitted to COSYNE 2022! We'll see you there (hopefully)
20210830: New publication! Conjunctive spatial and self-motion codes are topographically organized in the GABAergic cells of the lateral septum is now out in PLOS Biology. This work was led by Suzanne van der Veldt and is open access
20210115: I recently joined the ABL-Lab to develop bio-plausible deep learning models of the neocortex with Dr. Eilif Muller
20210101: Website in now online!
